Test Dogs started out this series on  at 3:30 pm, beginning with "Earl," handled by John Higgins and then "Whimsey," handled by Betsy Broyd.

The first running dog of this series was #89. NAFC-FC BAYOU-STAR FLEURTY GIRL, “Fleurt,” with handler Alan PleasantThey came to the line at 3:40 pm to kick off this 6th Series.


The weather for this series had temps up into the 50's and sunny skies.

Our last running dog for this Series was  the rerun for dog #
81. FC-AFC RAZOR’S PRICELESS CUTTING EDGE, “Allie,” with handler Hunter Street. They completed the test today at 5:14 pm.

37 dogs were sent from the line in this quick series, taking a total of 1 hour and 34 minutes to complete, which averages out to be just over 2.5 minutes per dog. 

We will be moving on to the 7th Series tomorrow morning!

6th Series Test Description

6th Series Test Description

904 Old Dawson Rd., Smithville, GA

Land Blind

For Test 6 we are staying at the Barstow Property. The mat is now facing SSW. Winds are coming out of the west. The blind is located approximately 319 yards from the mat.

The line to this blind will include a drainage ditch gently sloping across the path to the bird. The line will take the dog right of a tree and left of the 1st bale. As the dog goes down the field further he will go right of the 2nd bale and through a dip changing levels of grassy cover. The right side of the ground is gently rising. The end of the blind is just across a dirt farm road where the Dead Rooster Pheasant awaits.

This test is taking approximately 2-3 minutes per dog to complete.

Test Dogs started out this series on Tuesday morning at 9:57 am, beginning with "Whimsey," handled by Betsy Broyd.and then "Earl," handled by John Higgins. Wednesday morning we just had a single test dog to the line. (Whimsey and Betsy)

The first running dog of this series was #36. FC B&B’S GOSSIP GIRL, “Rumor,” with handler Marc PattonThey came to the line Tuesday morning at 10:26 am and had a No-Bird!


The weather to start this series was cold and sunny/clear skies with temps ranging from the 30's to the mid 50's throughout the test. Winds were consistently around 5-8 mph both days.

Came back to the line at 2:19 pm for a Rerun

LF - Cut up to the flyer gun area - stayed in front of the tree - worked the far hillside and down - hunting high - then back down - back up and got it

RR - Blew past and went very deep - hunted and got it

RF - Went out wide right and deep - handled back to the bird but could not get it - had the gunners come out to help - dog was picked up



Handle Rerun 83. FC-AFC RAZOR’S BUCKSHOT, “Shooter,” BLM, Ty Rorem

Came to the line at 2:09 pm

LF - Across the flat - up the hill and back down to his bird

LR - Through the arc and got deep - stayed close - circled - up the hill and made multiple passes but he got it

RF - Out to the area and got it!

RR - He needed to be handled to this bird




Double Handle Rerun 32. FC-AFC WHITEWATER WONDER WOMAN, “Beezie,” BLF, Cindie Little

Came to the line at 1:57 pm for a Rerun

LF - Committed to an area along the hillside - gradually expanded to include the bird

LR - Her line took her around the Retired Guns and then deep - her hunt expanded as she moved towards the guns station - she was handled to this bird

RF - Good recovery of her flyer!

RR - Her line for this mark took her towards the backside of the the live guns and she was also handled to this bird



Pick-up Rerun 49. FC-AFC WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN, “Wilma, “CLF, Mark Huffman

Came back to the line for their Rerun at 1:46 pm

LF -  Beautiful - took the best line of the day!

RR- Out to the blind of the Left Retired - tight turn - looped and looped deep - went deeper and up the hill away from the bird - hunting short now - back up the hill - down and out to the Right Retired

RF - Smack!

LR - Trying 2nd shot at this bird - went right of the fall and kept going - guns had to come out to help - dog is picked up





No-Bird 35. FC-AFC ATLASTA PRAYER, “Faith,” BLF, Bruce Ahlers

Faith and Bruce came to the line at 1:42 pm and had a No-Bird, they will be back

Handle 34. FC KCR’S GODDESS OF THE MOON, “Luna,” BLF, Seth Steenburgen

Came to the line at 1:33 pm

LF - Heads towards the gunners - runs deep and came back to put a couple loops on the hillside before scooping up her bird on the run.

LR - Multiple loops around the blind for the gunners - she then entered the fall area but appears to be headed further right and was handled to this bird

RF - Very good!

RR - Went to the area and stayed in the area to find the his bird



Handle 33. FC BUCK N NAVIGATOR, “Navy,” YLM, Jerry Patopea

Came to the line at 1:23 pm

LF - Drove deep - tight hunt on the hillside and he grabbed his bird

RR - Nice line through the Left Retired area - swung wide right and hunted deep of the flyer guns - cut over to the Right Retired area and worked out the RR bird

RF - Very good mark!

LR - Good line to the bird - was about to overrun the mark and was handled to the bird.



29. FC TEKA’S HONKER HUNK-A-LOU MH, “Louie,” YLM, Ty Rorem

Came to the line at 12:58 pm

LF - Nice line but just missed the bird - went just past the mark and then returned to the area and got it

LR - Smart hunt for a positive mark

RF - Very nice!

RR - Ran hard to the area - turned left at the end to the fall area and had his bird!



Pick-up 28. FC CHUGACH’S JJ’S TOPSAIL TIKISHLA, “Kish,” CBRF, JD Babb

Came to the line at 12:47 pm

LF - Excellent line - just missed the bird and drove a little deeper - turned and worked her way to the bird

LR - Initial line carried her beyond the Left Retired area and she went deep - her hunt took her near the flyer station where she was handled to the Left Retired bird

RF - Nice recovery of her flyer

RR - She overran the mark and drove deep - she was handled and then the dog was picked up


No-Bird 32. FC-AFC WHITEWATER WONDER WOMAN, “Beezie,” BLF, Cindie Little

 Beezie and Cindie came to the line at 1:20 pm and had a No-Bird, they will be back

Handle 31. FC-AFC H FORD 11, “Deuce,” BLM, Alex Drent

Came to the line at 1:08 pm

LF -  Very wide left bird past the telephone pole - he hunted the flat area hard expanding up the hill and then back - back to the big cedar away from the bird but he worked it out and got it

LR - Got just past the bird - turned back and forth -expanded his hunt but never towards the bird - had to be handled to this one

RF - Out of the area - a few turns more and he got it

RR - Excellent!



Handle 26. FC LL’s ROLLING THUNDER WITH LIGHTNING, “Flash,” YLM, Loran Marmes IV

Came to the line ...

LF - Up towards the cedars and on up the hill - back down to the flat and his bird

LR - Excellent line - got into cover and stayed until he found it

RF - Very nice after getting deep

RR -  Slipped through the right side and went deep - he was stopped and started handling - worked it out and got his bird

Came to the line ...

LF - Across the field and up the hill - back down and snagged it!

LR - Under the arc - turned right - further out into the field and got it

RF - Past behind the guns and got deep - came back in for the bird

RR -  Excellent line straight to the bird


23. FC OLD TOWNS ROUGH COUNTRY HAMMER DOWN QA2, “Trucker,” BLM, Al Arthur

 Came to the line at 12:22 pm

LF - Drove the hill - made a few loops as he worked down the hill

LR - Nice line to the bird - missed it but turned right back and got it 

RF - Excellent!

RR - Very Good!

Came to the line at 12:12 pm

LF - Up to the tree - established a hunt with loops that brought him down the hill to the bird

RR - Through the cover - he drove deep of the Left Retired area - cuts over to the area of the Right Retired area - began to go further right and was handled and then the dog was picked up


Handle Rerun 13. FC FLYWAY’S THE SAY HEY KID QA2, “Willie,” BLM, Luann Pleasant

 Came to the line at 12:00 pm

LF - Pinned it!

LR - Blew through the area and got to the hay bale - came back to the guns and then back out again - back to the guns and popped - handled to the bird

RF - Out on a good line to the flyer guns - got deep - came up a little and got it!

RR - Straight to the bird on this one!


Handle 21. FC-AFC R&A’S TAP DANCER, “Katie,” BLF, Rip Shively

Came to the line at 11:51 am

LF - Out to the flat and turned left - circled and hunted the area hard - got it

RR - Blew through the LR area and went very deep past the bird -  came back in to the RR area with the wind and got the RR bird

RF - Straight to it!

LR - Blew through the area again and the dog was handled back to the LR bird

LF - Right of the tree and drove the hill - quartering the back and then back down the hill - he found his bird

RR - Past the LR guns - 1 loop deep and came around into the RR bird

RF - Worked out the bird and got it

LR - Very good bird!

Came to the line at 11:33 am

LF - Looped in front of the gunners - around the back of the large tree - down the hill and worked out her bird

LR - Took a loop through the cover where the bird was - but missed it - drove back deep - but came back to the area and located the bird

RF - Nice recovery of this bird

RR - Very good



Pick-up Rerun 8. FC STAR LAB’S ROCK ON ROXXANN QA2, “Roxxie,” BLF, Rick Stawski

Came to the line at 11:26 am

LF - Drove across and up the hill around the tree and back up hill - around and down and she got it

LR - Made a turn up and she missed - went deep and was committed to the far hill - moved on up and had to handle from the flyer area - dog was picked up

Came to the line at 11:13 am

LF - Past it on the right - up part of the hill - came to the area and left - circled again on the hill and then down to the bird

LR - Slowed at the road and missed - continued deep - up the hill - got very deep and was handled back to the bird

RF - Hunted short - out deep left of the guns and away from the bird but he worked it out - came back and got it

RR -  Work out this bird after a few turns deep

LF - Right of the tree - drove the hill going behind the big tree and then straight down to the bird

RR - Ran through the LR area and went deep - turned right and swung in the Right Retired area - hunted the area and was handled to this bird

RF - Beautiful Mark!

LR - Line out to the area - drove deep and up hill - handled back to this bird




Double Handle 10. FC-AFC BIG RIVER CHARLIE II, “Charlie,” BLM, Jim Rickoff

Came to the line at 10:44 am

LF - Passed on the right - took the hill - came back down and located his bird

LR - Out under the arc - went deep - around the tree - popped - handled - Charlie wanted to keep going deep and kept turning - but he was successfully handled to this bird

RF - Nice Job!

RR -  Went out and got deep - handled back to this bird.

Came to the line at 10:36 am

LF - Beautiful bird! SMACK!

LR - Passed on the left of the bird - took a few extra steps and then turned back and got it

RF - Out to the area around the guns - turned right and got it

RR -  Very nice job!

 Roxie and Rick came to the line at 10:34 am and had a No-Bird, they will go back 6 running dogs

Handle 7. FC-AFC KIRKWOOD’S ACE OF A HIGHER GRADE, “Deacon,” BLM, Mark Medford

Came to the line at 10:23 am

LF - Drove left of the tree - climbed the hill and came back down to thoroughly check the area around the hay bales - and he found his bird

LR - Drove past the bird but quickly turned back to scoop up the bird

RF - Beautiful bird!

RR - Drove deep and was handled to this bird


 

Handle 5. FC-AFC WHITEWATER LAST FRONTIER-WYATT, “Wyatt,” YLM, Chris Ledford

Came to the line at 10:16 am

LF - Smack!

LR - Drove under the arc deep - back to the blind and out to the bird

RF - Nice job!

RR - Made 2 passes and then went deep to hunt - hunted the area deep right of the fall - had to start to handle back to the bird



Handle Rerun 107. FC GUNSTOCK’S RED ALERT, “Danger,” YLM, Danny Farmer

Came to the line at 10:03 am

LF - Bounced when it hit the ground - straight to the fall area - took a turn and missed it. Went deep left and then up hill deep. Back low for a loop or 2 - hunted low on the hill and then the flat - up around the tree - big look and got it!

LR - Drove through the fall area - got a few steps past it - stopped and came back for his bird

RF - Straight to the bird!

RR - Missed and went way deep - came back but we could not see him - came into view way deep of the flyer guns  - handled back to the bird after several whistles




Handle Rerun 106. FC-AFC BOO’S STRAIGHT LINE IS GOOD IDEA, “Torq,” BLM, Isaac Langerud

Came back to the line for a Rerun at 9:55 am

LF - Drove up the hill under the arc - put in a couple loops and works down to the bird

LR - Arrived under the arc and then drove deep - worked his way back and got the bird

RF - Nice line to the area - entered the cover and came back with his bird

RR - Good line but went deep - was handled back to this bird




2. FC-AFC 3R’S SMOKE THERE’S FIRE, “Fire,” BLM, Ty Rorem

Came to the line at 9:47 am

LF - Came in just right of the bird - ran up the hill and back to the area to grab his bird

LR - Line took him past the RG for a couple loops deep - worked back tot he fall and his bird

RF - Good line to the fly- quick recovery

RR - Very good! Arrived to the area and worked out the bird quickly



1. 2XNFC-3XCNFC TRULINE’S JUST FLOYD, “Floyd,” YLM, Amie Henninger

Came to the line at 9:37 am

LF - Short bird - he grabbed it on the run!

LR - Passed between the tree and where the guns stood - got a little deep - turned and got it!

RF - Split the area between the right retired and the flyer - drove straight to a wide bird and got the flyer!

RR - Good line out - got a little deep and then wide left - but he made his way back to the bird - got it and headed home



Rerun 103. FC-AFC BAYOU TECHE PAINT THE BLACK, “Madduxx,” BLM, Craig Crook

Came back to the line at 9:30 am

LF - Came in just left of the fall - circled and hunted the hillside deep - came back down for a loop and got it!

LR - Excellent!

RF - Cut right in front of the guns and went directly out to the bird!

RR - Out to the fall area and made a few passes in the area and quickly located his bird.




Handle 108. FC-AFC BULLET’S ORDAINED DEVIL DODGER, “Deacon,” BLM, Tim Milligan

Came to the line at 9:18 am

LF - Drove the hill but missed the bird and drove further up the hill - quickly turned around to dig out his bird

LR - Entered the area under the arc - drove deep and hunted deep and behind the gunners - back around and into the cover - and he got it

RF - Good line - had a couple loops under the arc and located the bird

RR - Good line out - passed a little short and then made a deep loop - worked the area but started to pull hard right and was handled to the bird.



No-Bird 107. FC GUNSTOCK’S RED ALERT, “Danger,” YLM, Danny Farmer

 Danger and Danny came to the line at 9:10 am and had a No-Bird, they will be back

No-Bird 106. FC-AFC BOO’S STRAIGHT LINE IS GOOD IDEA, “Torq,” BLM, Isaac Langerud

 Torq and Isaac came to the line at 9:08 am and had a No-Bird, they will be back after 6 dogs

Pick-up 105. FC-AFC TEN BEARS SKYWALKER, “Luke,” BLM, Charlie Hines

Came to the line at 8:58 am

LF - Out right of the guns - up the hill away from the bird - hunted his way back down and worked it out and got it

LR - Arrived under the arc - went deep back around the blind - went deeper for a bit - came back to the blind and hunted his way up the hill away from the bird - handled back to this bird.

RF - Out to the fall area under the arc of the Right Retired bird and missed deep wide right - came back and then went deeper wide right behind the flyers station - gunners came out to help - dog was picked up
