2nd Series Recap

2nd Series – Land and Water Triple with 2 Retired Guns and a Flyer

96 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs started out this series on Sunday morning at 7:10 am, beginning with "Whimsey," handled by Betsy Broyd.and then "Earl," handled by John Higgins. Monday morning we just had a single test dog to the line. (Whimsey and Betsy)

The first running dog of this series was #91 NAFC-FC LABRADOR SPRINGS BLACK TIE AFFAIR, “Tux,” with handler Jack Gwaltney, IIIThey came to the line Sunday morning at 7:38 am.


The weather to start this series started out with temps in the 70's with partly cloudy skies on Sunday and changed over to be cold and sunny on Monday morning with temps in the upper 40's and low 50's to finish up the test. Winds were consistently around 5-8 mph both days.

Here is how things turned out for the 2nd Series …

Our last running dog for this Series was a rerun for dog #
90. FC THIEVEN COUNTRY GRAMMAR, “Nelly,” with handler Mark Smith. They completed the test at 10:49 am.

96 dogs were sent from the line in this series, taking a total of 12 hours and 56 minutes, which averages out to be just over 8 minutes per dog. 

We will be moving on to the 3rd/4th Series next! Callbacks to come - we will post them on the blog as soon as we have them! 

2nd Series - Test Complete

Test Ended.  Series 2 was completed and in the books at 10:49 am.

90. FC THIEVEN COUNTRY GRAMMAR, “Nelly,” BLF, Mark Smith

Nelly and Mark came to the line at 10:42 am

F -  Perfect!

Island - Over the left side of the mound and she made a couple loops wide left - turned into the channel and across to her island bird.

MR - Swam a long the first point and across to the far point - angled nicely across the water - exited at a good position to grab her bird - got it!



89. NAFC-FC BAYOU-STAR FLEURTY GIRL, “Fleurt,” BLF, Alan Pleasant

Fleurt and Alan came to the line at 10:35 am

F -  Got it!

MR - Her line out took her just right of the island - crossed to the far point and landed on the far shore - went into the timber line - made a couple loops and then dropped down turning right to cross in front of the gunners and locate the Middle Bird.

Island - Wide left line out - she started a hunt on land at the end of the pond - came back in right and jumped in the pond and located her island bird.



88. FC-AFC RIDGECREST’S IMPIOUS, “Imp,” BLF, Judy Rasmuson

Imp and Judy came to the line at 10:28 am

F -  Smoked it!

Island - Straight there and back in with her bird!

MR - Crossed to the island on a left angle - not towards the gun - over the point and into the pond - out and up into the trees left of the blind - turned right - stayed in front of the guns and got it!






86. FC TUBB’S SOUTHERN SONG MH, “Dixie,” BLF, Erik Thompson

Dixie and Erik came to the line at 10:20 am

F -  Quick turn in the area and she got it!

MR - Line went straight to the island and then passed it - got out of the pond at the base of the point and ran right down to the far shore and grabbed the Middle Bird

Island - Out and back to the island - quickly got her Island Bird.



85. FC-AFC SOUTHWINDZ MIDNIGHT BREES QA2, “Brees,” BLF, Matt Miller

Brees and Matt came to the line at 10:12 am

F -  Very good!

Island - Up and over the mound - a little move right and Brees did another nice job!

MR - Hunted deep in the timbers to the right - worked her way back down and located the bird.



84. FC-AFC CLOONEY’S SEASIDE APOSTLE, “Creed,” BLM, Kenny Trott

Creed and Kenny came to the line at 10:06 am

F -  Quick work of his flyer!

Island - Went over the mound - a little left - but came back with the bird lickity split!

MR - Along the shore and took a hard left into the pond - swam across to the island - pulled up and over the island exiting straight across from the bird - drove the bank right up to the bird.



83. FC-AFC RAZOR’S BUCKSHOT, “Shooter,” BLM, Ty Rorem

Shooter and Ty came to the line at 9:56 am

F -  Launched and returned - resent out to the bird quickly

Island - Into the shoreline area and worked the shore of the island and got it!

MR - Over to the point - crossed and kicked off right - came out just left of the blind and then hunted the left side in the trees - moved right to his bird.



Handle 82. FC STONERIDGE LIFE OF RILEY MH QA2, “Riley,” BLM, Andrew Curtis

Riley and Andrew came to the line at 9:49 am

F -  Stepped on it!

Island - Wide left of the mound - headed almost out of sight - very deep - stopped and handled back to the bird.

MR - On a nice line past the tip off the far point - up to the fall area and the bird.



81. FC-AFC RAZOR’S PRICELESS CUTTING EDGE, “Allie,” BLF, Hunter Street

Allie and Hunter came to the line at 9:43 am

F -  Quick scoop and back with her bird!

Island - Made quick work of her Island Bird!

MR - Into the water just before the point - pulled left towards the decoy in the water -  but quickly moved on - she drove the bank and came up and went into the timber left of the guns - quickly ran out of the timbers and down to the bird.



Handle 80. FC-AFC FIELD OF DREAMS WHATS ALL THE BUZZ ABOUT, “Buzz,” BLM, Craig Crook

Buzz and Craig came to the line at 9:35 am

F -  Nice line to the area and he scooped up the bird.

Island - Left over the mound and around it  - crossed over to the far point and was handled back to this bird.

MR - Down the near point and jumped in to swim across to the far point - re-entered and got to the far shore - drove the bank and located his bird.






79. AFC SASSEVILLE’S DEUCES WILD, “Deuce,” BLM, Randy Spangler

Deuce and Randy came to the line at 9:28 am

F -  Nice!

Island - Over the mound - out to the island and the bird.

MR - Entered the pond on the left line - to the point - exited the pond - into the timber - circled behind the blind - out to the fall area and the bird.




Handle 77. FC-AFC GONNA BEE DANGEROUS, “Bee,” BLF, JD Babb

Bee and JD came to the line at 9:21 am

F -  Perfect!

Island - Straight to the island - got on point - back into the water and got her bird.

MR - Hard left in the 1st piece towards the decoy  - at the end of the point she popped - and was handled to the bird.




Handle 76. FC-AFC VIEWMARK’S GENE GENE THE SHOOTIN’ MACHINE, “Colt,” BLM, Danny Farmer

Colt and Danny came to the line at 9:12 am

F -  Tight hunt on his flyer - got it

Island - Pulled left as he approached the area - Colt hunted left and was handled to this bird.

MR - Over the far point - drove the bank - arriving left and driving into the timber - back out to the bank area where he moved right to scoop up the bird.



74. FC-AFC HRK LEXINGTON, “Lexi,” BLF, Marcy Wright

Lexi and Marcy came to the line at 8:59 am

F -  Scooped up her bird!

Island - Down to the water and across the pond - back with the bird in a jiffy!

MR - Entered the water wide right - swam right of the island - she pulled left - climbed the bank and was on to the bird.

Callbacks to the 3rd and 4th Series will be given at the NEXT TEST SITE. If you are finished running the 2nd Series, GO NOW. Turn Right on the Paved Road to the gate for the 1st Series - Follow the Signs that are posted - This gate will be Closed when the test starts.

73. FC DAC'S LAST ASSET, “Tessa,” BLF, Bart Peterson

Tessa and Bart came to the line at 8:52 am

F -  Smack!

Island - Over the left side of the mound - onto the point - up and down and then wide left and deep - back to the point - more left and right - over to the blind - went wide left and was getting deeper - but she came back to the point - the island - and then the bird!

MR - Great line! Carried her line all the way to the fall area and located the bird!



72. FC-AFC DAYS END BOY NAME SUE QA2, “Sue,” BLM, Mark Medford

Sue and Mark came to the line at 8:45 am

F -  Perfect!

Island - Wide left side of the mound - out to the point up and down to the blind - back to the point and then the island and his bird.

MR - Out right of the bale - across the field and out to the point - off the end into the pond - carried his line all the way to the bird!



71. FC-AFC OCTOBER SKY’S SWEET BABY BEAUREGARD, “Beau,” YLM, Chad Worsell

Beau and Chad came to the line at 8:38 am

F - Quick recovery of his bird

Island - Perfect line to his Island bird.

MR - Down the point and enters the pond - crossed over to the far point - drove the bank and got the bird!
