3rd & 4th Series Recap

3rd & 4th Series – Land Blind and Water Blind

85 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs started out this series on Monday morning at 11:42 am, beginning with "Earl," handled by John Higgins and then "Whimsey," handled by Betsy Broyd. Tuesday morning we just had a single test dog to the line. (Earl and John)

The first running dog of this series was #9 FC-AFC JS’S JUMPIN’ JACK FLASH, “Jack,” with handler Chad WorsellThey came to the line Monday afternoon at 12:05 pm, but there was a small change made to the test, so they went back into the running order to run the adjusted test again at the end.


The weather for this series started out quite cold with temps in the 40's and 50's and sunny skies. Tuesday morning was very brisk starting out in the mid 20's and low 30's, with clear skies again. Winds were consistently around 5-8 mph both days.

Here is how things turned out for the 3rd and 4th Series …

Our last running dog for this Series was  the rerun for dog #
FC-AFC JS’S JUMPIN’ JACK FLASH, “Jack,” with handler Chad Worsell. They completed the test today at 8:27 am.

85 dogs were sent from the line in this series, taking a total of 6 hours and 51 minutes, which averages out to be just over 4.5 minutes per dog. 

We will be moving on to the 5th Series next! Callbacks to come - we will post them on the blog as soon as we have them!

carried this to the end of the grassy area

1 in the dip and carried that line up the hill

1 whistle at the road

1 more for direction across the shoreline

2 to get to the trees and into the water

2 more to the bird


7. FC-AFC KIRKWOOD’S ACE OF A HIGHER GRADE, “Deacon,” BLM, Mark Medford

Breathing out steam, Deacon was ready to go!

1 more to drive through the dip and up to the bird

4 left to keep him near the shoreline

5. FC-AFC WHITEWATER LAST FRONTIER-WYATT, “Wyatt,” YLM, Chris Ledford

Wyatt was ready to go this morning!

Little direction was given to start him and he was off!

4. FC-AFC TO ALL THE PLACES I’VE NEVER BEEN, “Gypsy,” BLF, Ray Vreeland

2 for the dip but went wide right up the hill

4 more and she got the bird

2 whistles to keep low to the water and she carried this across the water

Over the road and into the field before the 1st whistle

this carried him through all the grasses

2 whistles to clear the dip and drive the hill

2 more to get the bird


Water Blind

Over the road - 1 whistle to get half way down the shore

1 more at the shore to get to the far side of the pond

2 more and he had his bird

5 to move past the points - he jumped into the water before the point and was back out

The single test dog to the line for the 2nd day of this series was Earl with handler John Higgins .... Earl came to the line at 7:04 am

Several more and he got in

Stopped 2 times in the pond for line adjustment
